After a few weeks of rest with his family, time is up to go back to real training again for Frederik Van Lierde.
Before a heavy winter training session, Frederik is happy to share with you his race plan for 2014.
He has decided to focus on 8 races.
His first appointment is taking place in the United Arab Emirates, on March 15th, where he will be starting the season with the Abu Dhabi International Triathlon. This race will be a crucial one to him in many ways: it will be his first race since the IRONMAN World Championship in Hawaii, it represents a race he has already won twice and for which he currently holds the title, and, lastly, this first event will set the mark for his return to the competition. Each year, Abu Dhabi gathers among the best athlete in the world, it is therefore an interesting test for the world champion.
Then Frederik will fly back to France to appear on the Croisette and participate to the Cannes International Triathlon on April 13th. This is a new event of which he will be the ambassador. As such, he will be at the start of the middle distance triathlon (2-80-15) .
May 18th, Frederik will compete at the IRONMAN 70.3 Aix-en-Provence before living June 1st for Germany, in Düren, for the ExtremeMan .
These two races will represent the perfect preparation leading to the only IRONMAN Frederik will perform prior to Kona. Indeed, the reigning world champion is not concerned with the KPR race points. All he has to do is to finish one IRONMAN same for the next 5 years. Nevertheless, this is not knowing Frederik! Not only he didn’t choose the easiest one since he selected the IRONMAN in Frankfurt on July 6th, but he will be going there attempting a double challenge: claim the European champion title and race below 8h00 (and enter the very limited club of sub8 athlete).
This race clearly represents his main objective for the beginning of his season.
The 5150 Marseille ( fra ) on July 25th and the Triathlon in Deinze (Belgium) on August 24th, will make his two final appearances before HIS ultimate goal: the IRONMAN World Championships in Hawaii on October 11th, 2014.
On every of his appearance, Frederik is determined to race with the firm intention of winning and thus carry high your colors.
