Hello everybody,
The first victory of the year is a fact! And my first place this weekend in Düren (Extreme Man circuit) came at the right time in my build-up for the IRONMAN European Championship in Frankfurt on 6 July.
The race in fact went very well. I swam 1900 m in the lead in the Bade See with a good feeling. Then I managed to create a serious gap on my new Cervélo P5! After the 90 km bike leg with 1000 altimeters (2 h 11 min), I put on my running shoes with a 7 min 40 lead on the first pursuer.
I ran the half marathon, which was largely unpaved along the Bade See, in 1 h 16 min, but without forcing given the heavy training ahead of me. I eventually ended in 3 h 53 min, more than 8 minutes ahead of number 2.
Now it’s time for some recuperation and an exploration of the track in Frankfurt before leaving for Font Romeu at the end of the week. 25 days of high-altitude training as final preparation for the IRONMAN European Championship!
See you soon!
